Baghdad: Residents are urging authorities to reopen the Hanging Bridge closed by Americans in 2003 and resolve traffic jams.
But Americans refuse to open the bridge because it is the only bridge leading to the Green Zone, headquarter of the American military forces.
The Hanging Bridge is one of seven bridges that link Rusafa and Karkh, two banks of the Tigris River.
Adnan Al Falouji, a resident, said: “I used to use the Hanging Bridge, but today I cannot use it or walk on it.''
