Al Hashimi receives UAE envoy to Baghdad

Baghdad: Tariq Al Hashimi, the Iraqi Vice President received on Tuesday Abdullah Ibrahim Al Shihi, the UAE Ambassador in Baghdad.
Al Hashimi expressed the Iraqi government's readiness to back the UAE's ambassador's mission in Iraq to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries.
Al Hashimi also said that the Uae's diplomatic representation in Iraq is a sign of the GCC's countries keenness to develop bilateral relations, stressing Iraq's desire to have a positive role in the GCC, and to re-establish its historical role in economic, political and educational levels.
Al Hashimi added that Iraq strives to have a distinguished role in boosting security and stability throughout the Gulf region.
Al Shihi said that the UAE's decision in re-establishing diplomatic relations with Iraq is considered a turning point for the two countries, and that the courageous decision on the UAE's part will encourage other Arab countries to take the same step.
He also said that the UAE's decision stems from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai's keenness for the prevalence of peace and security in Iraq.
Al Shihi also announced the establishment of ministerial committees' between the two countries to meet in the future to enhance and strengthen the relationship between the UAE and Iraq in the interest of both countries.
