Washington: A ship contracted by the US Military Sealift Command has fired at least one shot toward an Iranian boat, a US defense official said on Friday.
"It was an MSC vessel," the official said, confirming the ship fired on an Iranian boat.
Other details were not immediately available.
Iran-US ties
Meanwhile in Tehran, Iran's Foreign Minister said on Friday at present time restoration of ties with United States is not included in Iran's foreign policy agenda, according to Irna.
Manouchehr Mottaki who was speaking to the press after casting his vote at run off round of the 8th Majlis elections, added, "Washington must have realised by now that ruling in the Middle East region resorting to military force and bullying of regional nations are absolutely impossible."
The head of Iran's foreign diplomacy reiterated, "The world countries have realised the point that the United States'only option for exerting its hegemony at global level is resorting to its military force at present time."
