Tehran: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to brief members of the UN Security Council about his country's nuclear programme, state television reported on Sunday.

The five permanent members of the Security Council - the United States, France, Britain, China and Russia - plus Germany, known as the P5+1, are considering imposing new sanctions on Iran over its nuclear ambitions.

"Ahmadinejad is to brief the UN Security Council on Iran's peaceful civilian nuclear programme," state TV reported in scrolling headlines. "Iran's Foreign Ministry says President Ahmadinejad may attend the next P5+1 meeting," it added, without giving further details.

Meanwhile, the deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation (IAEO) in International Affairs Mohammad Saeedi said here on Saturday that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) technical aid to Iran has been cut only in 10 cases.

Speaking to IRNA, he called the foreign media's reports on severing IAEA cooperation with Iran in 22 projects 'false'.

Saeedi added the IAEA in its recent meeting could not reach a final decision over 12 cooperation projects with Iran.

He said the 12 projects will be considered one by one.
