Tehran: A fire broke out at a large refinery south of Tehran on Monday and fire fighters brought it under control, state television reported without giving details of any damage or production losses.
Nour Al Deen Shahnazizadeh, an official of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, suggested the blaze may not yet have been extinguished.
"The liquid gas unit of Tehran Refinery caught fire," he told the official Irna news agency.
"The fire was brought under control with the timely presence of fire fighters," state television said. Iran is the world's fourth-largest crude producer.
