Tehran: Iran and Iraq agreed to boost defence cooperation during Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki's visit to Tehran on Monday, Iran's official Irna news agency reported.
Mine clearance and the search for soldiers missing in action would be part of the planned cooperation, Irna reported.
Earlier on Monday, Iran's supreme leader told Al Maliki that the presence of US forces in Iraq was the biggest obstacle to its development as a united country.
"The occupiers who, without having any rights, interfere in Iraqi affairs through their military and security powers, imagine that the Iraqi people and government are indebted to them," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.
"These are the greatest threat," the Iranian supreme leader was quoted as saying by Iran's Fars news agency.
Iran blames the presence of US troops for the violence in Iraq, while the United States accuses Iran of arming, training and funding rebels in Iraq.
