Ahmadinejad challenger warns of attempt to incriminate supporters

Tehran: Iranian media said on Sunday the main challenger to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is warning Ahmadinejad may be trying to incriminate his supporters ahead of Friday's presidential election.
The report in several internet news sites and newspapers said Mir Hossein Mousavi wrote a letter to Iran's top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying there is a possibility Ahmadinejad and his supporters are trying to fabricate evidence against Mousavi's supporters.
There was no immediate comment from Ahmadinejad who in the past has accused Mousavi of having links with people involving corruption.
The election on Friday is seen as crucial for Iran, and pits Ahmadinejad with his deep support among Iran's poor against Mousavi who has criticised Ahmadinejad's economic stewardship of the country.
