13 Africans arrested on Egypt-Israel border
Egyptian police have arrested 13 would-be African migrants trying to cross over illegally into Israel.
Rafah: Egyptian police have arrested 13 would-be African migrants trying to cross over illegally into Israel.
An Egyptian official said the group included men, women and children from Eritrea, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Sudan.
The official said they had each paid $500 to traffickers for passage across Egypt's Sinai desert to the Israeli border.
Sunday's arrest is the latest in a series of attempts by illegal migrants to cross into Israel. The Egyptian government tends to publicize arrests to show they are patrolling their border efficiently.
