Gunmen opened fire during visiting hours at a prison in Egypt on Monday, killing an inmate and wounding 13 people, security sources said.
Cairo: Gunmen opened fire during visiting hours at a prison in Egypt on Monday, killing an inmate and wounding 13 people, security sources said.
The 13 injured included nine prisoners and four policemen who have been taken to hospital for treatment.
Sources said the gunmen were trying to free a group of inmates from the prison in Assiut.
"Visitors were coming and going from the prison when the shooting took place," an official said.
