Suspected US drone fires missile at car, local security officer says

Sana'a: A suspected US drone fired a missile on Friday morning at a car carrying Al Qaida militants, killing eight near the desert district of Al Khasha'a in the south-eastern province of Hadramout, a local security officer told Gulf News.

The airstrike is the third totarget hiding Al Qaida militants in the province.

"A US drone hit the car at 7.30am,killing all the militants. Six bodies were taken to Seiyun hospital while two extremely burnt bodies were left in the scene," the security source said. The ministry of defence said the militants were carrying weapons and explosive materials apparently intending to carryouta terrorist attack.

Recent airstrikes have targeted vehicles transporting secret members of Al Qaida in the province of Hadramout. On Wednesday night,a missile destroyed a car carrying suspected militants as it travelled in a small village calledKhashamer inWadi Hadramout. Three militants were reportedly burnt to death in the attack.
