Sana'a: A total of 30 people charged with participating in the riots which erupted south of Yemen last week were referred to prosecution, local officials said on Saturday.
The deputy governor of Al Dhale'e province, Lahsoon Saleh Musleh, said that 32 more people were released on bail on Saturday.
The official also said that 12 soldiers were also referred to military prosecution for participating in the riots after they had been absent from service.
"Everyone proved guilty of damaging security and stability of the nation must face justice," the official said.
On his part, the spokesman of the opposition alliance, Mohammed Saleh, repeatedly called for an immediate release of all political detainees over the riots which erupted in the south of the country.
The opposition official said tens of opposition activists and university professors were arrested on Thursday in Lahj province in addition to those detained in Al Dahle'e and Aden.
He also called for an immediate release of the popular singer Fahd Al Qarni who was arrested in Taiz over charges of abusing the president Ali Abdullah Saleh through his ironic songs which he performs in popular opposition rallies.
The opposition spokesman also condemned threats through telephone calls received by an opposition woman activist for her participating in previous protest in the southern provinces.
Tawakul Karman, senior member of Islah party, said in a statement sent to the media, she received telephone calls threatening her with death if she goes to the southern provinces to participate in the protests.
