Abu Dhabi: The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced that it will soon begin building the new Dh175 million bus depot project in Abu Dhabi, after it was approved by the Executive Council as part of various infrastructure projects totalling Dh1.5 billion.

Spanning over 10 hectares in Khalifa City A, opposite the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and adjacent to the northern Abu Dhabi — Dubai main road, the new bus depot will have facilities that accommodate up to 480 buses, providing them with fuelling, washing and maintenance services, in addition to the establishment of a building to provide integrated maintenance services capable of servicing 550 buses. The project is expected to be completed by end of 2015.

According to the DoT, the suggested design of the project has been meticulously considered to accommodate more vehicles in the future, while adhering to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, the ability to reach all of Abu Dhabi, as well as its location away from residential areas.
