Al Ain: Rain, cloudy, and windy conditions are a normal occurrence across the Emirates during this time of the year, said forecasters noting that “it’s not unusual”.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said April is known as the transitional period between the summer and winter seasons. “This period is usually characterised by a significant change in weather with reference to the climate history,” he added.

The month sees contrasting weather as the temperature begins to climb and occasionally drops to pleasant levels due to rain and thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures hover around 33 degrees Celsius and humidity generally remains low. Although winter weather patterns still remain this month, they become less frequent, said a forecaster.

According to the Dubai Airport Forecast Office, rainfall remains low, but in exceptional years rainfall has been as high as 60mm. The increase in temperature does however mean that the occasional storms that do develop can be violent with heavy rain and squalls.
