Fog in the early hours likely in Abu Dhabi
The weather bureau has warned of early-morning fog in areas of Abu Dhabi over the next couple of days
Abu Dhabi: The weather bureau has warned of early-morning fog in areas of Abu Dhabi over the next couple of days and of rough seas until Monday.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), told Gulf News that there is a chance of fog or mist in the southwestern areas of the UAE, such as Liwa or Madinat Zayed in the early morning over the next few days.
"The temperature will continue to drop due to the wind changes expected but will remain between 20 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius until Tuesday," the weatherman said.
The sea was very rough on Saturday with offshore waves as high as ten feet (three metres).
The wind later dropped in the afternoon churning up waves of eight feet (2.5 metres) high before finally calming down in the evening, with five feet (1.5 metres), the meteorologist said.
These conditions will then move on to the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman on Sunday with offshore waves expected to reach between five to seven feet (1.5 to two metres) before stabilising on Monday.
Northwesterly winds
In terms of wind and visibility within the UAE, the country will continue to be affected by northwesterly winds before changing to northeast and easterly winds for the next three days.
According to the NCMS website, humidity levels for today are expected to be approximately 20 to 80 per cent throughout the country while wind speeds will range between 20-40 km/h, with the possibility of 55 km/h winds.
"Some low-forming clouds are also expected to appear mainly in the eastern regions of the UAE, as well as parts of the north and mountainous areas over the next two days [Sunday and Monday]," the meteorologist said.
