Deported woman alters name to enter UAE

Dubai: A woman whose iris was scanned and who was deported in 2005 came back this year by changing one letter in her name in her passport, officials said.
But her luck ran out at Dubai International Airport when she was caught by the iris scanner. The Ethiopian woman came in 2003 and then escaped from her sponsor to work illegally for two years before she was arrested in Abu Dhabi and deported.
She was married last year to a UAE resident. The husband applied for a residency visa for her from the Abu Dhabi Naturalisation and Residency Department. The ANRD issued the visa for her but when she tried to enter through Dubai airport she was caught.
The woman has now been stranded at Dubai airport for the past five days.
