Dubai: Two people, a man and a woman, were killed in two separate traffic accidents at the weekend, according to Dubai Police.

Police urge motorists to drive carefully
Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Chief of Dubai Police Traffic Department, said yesterday that more than six people were injured and two killed in five traffic accidents during the weekend.
A woman was killed in a traffic accident at 8.30pm on Friday when a car driven by a man hit her car after jumping the red light in Al Warqa area in Dubai. The woman died on the spot while three other passengers on board sustained injuries.
A man was run over by a car and died on the spot on Friday on Shaikh Rashid Road, he said.
Another pedestrian sustained injuries on Friday night in a traffic accident when he was hit by a speeding car in Al Ghusais area.
A woman sustained injuries when she was hit by a car near Ibn Battuta Mall.
Major General Al Zafein said another woman was injured in a separate accident when she was hit by a speeding car at Al Mizher area on Saturday.
The traffic police chief has warned people against using mobile phones while driving and reiterated that motorists must follow signboards to adhere to traffic rules and speed limits.
