Waving pedestrian helps man avoid crash
A long line of cars continued to crawl towards Dubai from Abu Dhabi more than six hours after the first crash was reported on the fog shrouded 'highway of death'.

Dubai: A long line of cars continued to crawl towards Dubai from Abu Dhabi more than six hours after the first crash was reported on the fog shrouded 'highway of death'.
Ambulances and police cars came rushing from Abu Dhabi and went on the hard shoulder past the 20-kilometre line of cars moving slowly from Al Samha to Salih As Sidrah at noon on Tuesday. A helicopter hovered overhead.
Escape
It was midway between these small towns just on the border between the emirates where the disaster took place. The spot was at exit 399 to Al Ghantoot, a small township.
A Gulf News reader recalls his escape and said he saw a man waving his hands wildly at the side of the road. He was on the fast track and immediately turned right into the slow lane, and that is what saved him.
