Dubai: Self-service will be introduced at Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc) from Tuesday at 10 of its service stations across Dubai and the northern emirates.
This new concept of buying fuel will run as a pilot project at three sites in Dubai and seven in the northern emirates.
The 10 Enoc service stations where the self-service scheme will be introduced include Al Bada'a, opposite Jumeirah Prison, Al Manara on Jumeirah Beach Road, Al Hashimi behind the Sahara Centre, Al Gharafa on Ajman Main Street and Thouban on the Sharjah-Fujairah highway.
The self-service option is simple. Customers must park in front of the pump, switch off the engine, go into the store and pay the amount purchased after mentioning the pump number and desired product.
Safety measure
The cashier will then give a receipt for payment and the customer can go back to the particular pump, take the nozzle out and fill up.
The pump will automatically stop when the authorised amount is dispensed and the customer can then replace the nozzle.
The self-service concept will allow for payment by cash only. As a safety measure, smoking and the use of mobile phones while filling up are strictly forbidden.
The self-service option does not cover carwash and quick oil change operations.
