Salik gets its own website with integrated services
The Roads and Transport Authority has launched a number of integrated services on its electronic website for the new electronic toll collection system, Salik.
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority has launched a number of integrated services on its electronic website for the new electronic toll collection system, Salik.
The website has been developed to offer information related to customer's accounts.
An electronic interactive answering service has also been upgraded.
Web service
The new web service also offers the possibility of checking personal accounts, road congestions and the date and hour in which a certain vehicle has crossed a certain gate.
Motorists are now able to check their accounts by calling Salik 800 72545 and following the voice instructions.
"[The Roads and Transport Authority] RTA is keen to offer Salik subscribers the most practical and integrated services," Salah Mohammad Al Marzouqi, Director of Intelligent Traffic Systems, said.
"RTA is also negotiating with several financial institutions to add the recharging service on Salik's website," he added.
"When cars pass the area located between the toll gates [Al Garhoud and Al Barsha], motorists will not be charged. The toll fees will be deducted only when the cars pass under the toll gates," Al Marzouqi clarified.
"Motorists who don't want to use the toll roads can use Dubai Crossing Road, which links Sharjah with Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Road that has been expanded from three to six lanes, and the floating bridge, which links Al Ittihad Street near City Centre to Al Riyadh Street in Bur Dubai. The floating bridge is decreasing the traffic on Al Maktoum bridge considerably as it can take up to 6,000 vehicles during rush hour," Salah Al Marzouqi added.
RTA has installed signboards to guide motorists to the toll gates located at Garhoud bridge and on Shaikh Zayed Road near the Mall of the Emirates, and roadside signboards on the way-ins to Dubai, in addition to the current installment of signboards that lie before the petrol stations, guiding motorists to sales points of Salik tags.
