The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a campaign to solicit ideas from the public on how to enhance the public transport service.
Dubai: Great ideas will be greatly rewarded.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a campaign to solicit ideas from the public on how to enhance the public transport service.
To sweeten the pot, the RTA will give monetary rewards to those who would come up with fantastic ideas that the RTA would likely implement.
"We are open to ideas and suggestion from people as we want to involve the community in improving our services," said Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim, chief executive officer of the RTA's Strategy & Corporate Governance Establishment.

The scheme called Fikraty (my idea) is open to all residents, tourists and even to RTA staff and people directly involved with the agency.
"Fikraty will encourage exchange of ideas that are necessary for growth. The objective of the scheme is to open and ease external and internal communication channels, which will aid the operations of the entity with its primary focus being the development of the transport services in the emirate," Ibrahim said.
Generous incentives are in store for creative thinkers.
Under the scheme, anyone who could come up with an idea that would help the RTA generate revenues worth Dh100,000 to Dh500,000 will get Dh8,000.
Those who could think of anything that would make the RTA earn Dh501,000 to Dh750,000 will get a Dh12,000 reward.
A Dh20,000 reward will be given to authors of ideas that would generate revenues of Dh751,000 to Dh1 million for the RTA.
Laila Hareb, director of RTA's Strategy and Corporate Performance Department, said all suggestions will be evaluated according to prescribed standards relevant to the mode of operation, costs involved, revenues anticipated after implementation and the availability of time.
Suggestions will be reviewed by the concerned RTA department and also by an independent committee.
How to join
Idea forms can be downloaded from the RTA website www.rta.ae and submitted to the RTA office.
Those who wish to register their suggestions may also e-mail the RTA at info@rta.ae or call 8009090.
Rewards will also be given to individuals or groups for suggestions relevant to smaller projects, which generate monetary or non-monetary results.
Best individual suggestion that generates monetary or non monetary positive results will be awarded Dh5,000 or travel tickets or the 'Dalili' navigation system.
Second best individual suggestion will be awarded Dh2,500, or three days and two-nights stay in a five star hotel in the UAE or a seasonal car parking card for all areas in Dubai.
Two best group suggestions that generate positive outputs will be given purchase coupons according to the number of people in the group.
