Dubai Four people were killed and five others were injured in separate road accidents in the past two days, traffic authorities said on Sunday.

One person was killed and two injured when a speeding water tanker swerved and hit them as they were sitting on the side of the road in Al the Quoz area. Police said the tanker driver was driving recklessly. As a result, the tanker overturned, swerved and hit the victims.

The deceased, identified as H.S., died on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries.

In another incident, a 22-year-old Asian driver died on the spot when he lost control of his pick-up which veered off to the right side of the road and hit another truck moving in the correct direction, according to Salah Bu Farousha, head of the Traffic Public Prosecution.

Another Asian driver died and three men sustained serious injuries when the deceased wrongly overtook another vehicle from the right side of a two-lane road and rammed head-on into another vehicle in the correct lane, said Bu Farousha.

Meanwhile, a jaywalker was killed when a car ran him down near the labour accommodation in Al Ghusais. Police said the victim was crossing in an undesignated area.

A 28-year-old Asian jaywalker was seriously injured when a 26-year-old GCC national biker ran him over on Shaikh Rashid Road near Al Garhoud Bridge.
