Radar traps to catch rash drivers
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is using unmarked vehicles equipped with cameras to catch offending motorists, police said.
- Increasing force, patrols and equipment
- Forming traffic control teams to monitor highways 24 hours
- Raising number of radars, especially mobile radars to 70 by the end of next year
- Increasing the number of traffic cameras and all interchanges will be electronically monitored
- Stiffening procedures for some dangerous offences driving licences of motorists who jump red lights and are involved in a traffic accident will be cancelled
Dubai: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is using unmarked vehicles equipped with cameras to catch offending motorists, police said.
The CID caught 95 vehicles yesterday. The vehicle tracing section of the CID department took pictures and caught the drivers while they were committing offences and impounded 23 vehicles. They have started procedures to trace the other vehicles.
