Police seize 1,118 driving licences
Police have cancelled the driving licences of 40 heavy vehicle drivers for jumping red signals, a police report said on Wednesday.
Dubai: Police have cancelled the driving licences of 40 heavy vehicle drivers for jumping red signals, a police report said on Wednesday.
The drivers will also be deported. The move is in line with the directives by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The driving licences of 24 drivers of light vehicles have been cancelled for gathering more than 24 black points, as set by the new traffic control system.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Muneir Al Mazroui of the Dubai Traffic Department said a total of 1,118 licences have been seized in the past eight months. Another 272 licences whose holders have exceeded the set 24 black points will also be seized, he added.
Meanwhile, Dubai police have raised more than Dh90,000 at an auction for unclaimed goods. The Lost and Found Section at the Dubai Police Community Service Department organised the auction on Wednesday.
