Dubai: The Dubai Metro operation will begin on September 9 as scheduled, said Chief of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, quashed rumours that the metro project has been delayed.

"Our date is 09/09/09 and we remain stick to it," he said while replying to a question at the press conference held on Monday to announce the Dubai Metro fares.

About not opening some metro stations on the launching of the Red Line on September 9, Al Tayer said: "We are trying our best to open all the stations but final decision would be taken in August."

He had earlier said that it would not be feasible to open some stations because there were not developments around them.

He said that RTA would also join hands with the private sector in its future projects as part of its strategic plan of public private partnership initiative.
