Fujairah: Twenty-seven girls had a providential escape when their school bus collided with a vehicle in Al Taween area, an official at Fujairah police said.

The bus driver's presence of mind helped reduce the impact of the collision. He applied brakes when he noticed that an Emirati was driving recklessly ahead of him. The bus was on its way to drop students home.

The control room at Fujairah police received information about the accident at around 2.45pm, the official said. Police patrols were dispatched immediately.

No one sustained injuries in the accident. However, glass panes in the front left side of the bus had cracked. The young driver was arrested and his vehicle will be impounded.
