Dubai: Jebel Ali Metro Station is the last station on the Red Line while going towards Abu Dhabi from Dubai.

The station is located right in front of Jebel Ali Downtown - a massive project having a mix of commercial, leisure and residential buildings stretching about 11km along Shaikh Zayed Road.

It is the only station of the Dubai Metro which has been built at ground level. All other stations are either elevated or underground. The station will mainly serve hundreds of thousands of employees working in more than 6,100 companies in the Jebel Ali Free Zone Area (Jafza).

Jafza is built over an area of 48 square kilometres and ranks among the world's largest and the fastest growing free zones. By using Dubai Metro from this station, employees and visitors to the JafzaA can save time and money in commuting between the city and the free zone.

It is also expected to ease traffic congestion. There is Metro depot located next to the station. Once the operation closes at night, the trains will be moved to the depot for maintenance, washing and cleaning.

The station is strategically located and there are plans to extend the Red line to Al Maktoum International Airport (under construction).
