Four killed in two Sharjah accidents
Four people were killed and eight others injured in two separate accidents in Sharjah.
Dubai: Four people were killed and eight others injured in two separate accidents in Sharjah.
Police in Sharjah said the first accident, in which three people died, took place at 5.30am on Friday on the Sharjah-Maliha road.
A tyre burst on a speeding BMW car heading in the direction of Maliha from Sharjah.
Seven members of a family were travelling in the car at the time of the accident.
Police sources said since the vehicle had been speeding the impact of the tyre burst was so severe that the driver lost control. The car landed on the other side of the road, after ramming into a concrete barrier.
It then overturned six times before coming to a halt.
Family members who died on the spot were the 40-year-old driver, his 35-year-old wife and their 10-year-old son Hosni. Their other four children, Ala and Aya, 5-year-old twins, Abdullah, 12, and Noor, 13, suffered minor to moderate injuries.
In a separate accident a Toyota Corolla that jumped a red light collided with a Range Rover at the Al Nahda interchange.
The Toyota Corolla was driven by a man identified as Kamal Kumar, from India, who died on the spot, while G. Kishnan, 23, a fellow passenger, was seriously injured.
All three Egyptians travelling in the Range Rover were injured and were taken to the Al Qassimi hospital in Sharjah.
