Dubai spending Dh80b on mass transport
Dubai will spend about Dh80 billion by 2020 on expansion of the road network and development of a mass transport system, including Dubai Metro, buses and marine transport.

Dubai: Dubai will spend about Dh80 billion by 2020 on expansion of the road network and development of a mass transport system, including Dubai Metro, buses and marine transport.
"The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is working on its strategic transport plan to cope with the expected increase in population from the current 1.4 million to 5.2 million by 2020," said Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA.
Out of the Dh80.74 billion budget, Dh44.04 billion will be spent on road development comprising some 500km of new roads and 90 interchanges; Dh24.22 billion being spent on four lines of the Dubai Metro; about Dh9.19 billion will be spent on a tram network, Dh2.2 billion on the public transport bus system and Dh1.83 billion is being spent on development of a marine transport system.
