Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is expecting the Metro to generate up to Dh17 billion within the next ten years, reported the local daily Al Bayan.

The bulk of this income will be generated from the sales of tickets, fines, and the rent and sale of retail outlets within the Metro stations.

The RTA also said that the introduction of the Metro as a transportation system would lower the financial costs that result from the daily congestion on Dubai roads, which is estimated at Dh4.6 billion

The building of the new rail system has jumped from Dh15 billion to Dh28 billion due to the expansion of various lines, reported the daily.
