Dubai: Senior Rail Agency officials visited Canada to witness the testing of an automatic train control (ATC) system that will be used for the Dubai Metro.
The ATC needs to interact with different systems, including the rolling stock itself, power supply, platform screen doors and operation control.
A team of experts witnessed the tests, and procedures were documented and submitted for review before factory acceptance tests will be undertaken.
"The first version of the ATC software should be deployed for the Dubai Test Track in August 2008," Adnan Al Hamadi, Director of Rail Projects Construction, said.
"The process of electronically recording and tracking comments is very thorough and efficient to make sure the deployed version of the software on site is very robust and safe," he said.
More components of the ATC software are due to be tested in the months before further Metro trial runs.
