Dubai: The new Business Bay bridge over Dubai Creek was fully opened on Tuesday, providing easy access to motorists travelling between Bur Dubai and Deira.
All 13 lanes of the bridge were opened on Tuesday, said an official at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Six of the 13 lanes of the bridge were opened to traffic last month.
It is the third bridge over the creek and has been built 30 years after the last bridge, Al Garhoud, was constructed.
The Business Bay Crossing is located some 1.5 km South of Al Garhoud Bridge near the Festival City and will provide a new road corridor to motorists travelling between Bur Dubai and Deira and to Sharjah, in addition to Emirates Road and Shaikh Zayed Road.
The total length of the comprehensive road network being built as part of the Business Bay Crossing is 15 km and it will ultimately connect the Dubai Airport Tunnel with the First Interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road
A 9-km stretch of the road from the Airport Tunnel to Oud Metha Road was opened last month.
According to the RTA it is the first bridge in Dubai, which will provide free movement of vessels along the creek round the clock and will not be closed at night unlike the existing Al Garhoud and Al Maktoum bridges on the Dubai Creek.
Since the opening of the new bridge, the traffic flow on Al Garhoud and Al Maktoum bridges has eased considerably as a large number of motorists have started using the new bridge.

Is it free? Or is there a toll tax there also?

Dubai is very clean and beautiful city. But major disadvantage is "TRAFFIC JAMS".
Our office is situated at Jebel Ali South zone and our house is in Karama, to go to office from Karama we take one hour while going back we have to travel 2 hours due to Deira and Bur Dubai traffic. Actually, we are fed up with this travelling time. Our life is going to be miserable and our health will get upset. In our office, my colleagues are suffering from back pain. One person has affected very much severely, so he is leaving the Dubai itself and going back to India. Please find some solutions for this.

The introduction of the new Business Bay bridge is was an excellent idea to reduce traffic on Garhoud and Maktoum bridges. The only downfall is that it is still quite difficult for most people to actually find it! I urge the authorities to put up more signs leading motorists to the bridge, for I believe a lot of people want to use it, but just don?t know how to get there.

We were in Dubai for more than 10 years and we consider the place our second country. Dubai is such a beautiful city and we really do miss the place. Reading Gulf News in the internet updates us everything about Dubai. We wish we could come and visit the place again and witness all the beautiful things that you had and going to feature about Dubai. More power to the Rulers Of Dubai who did a good job for making the world know that Dubai, UAE does exist and what a wonderful place to live and visit. For the upcoming projects, Allah be with you.....Gulf News, thank you too...

Dubai government is doing a great job to facilitate the residents overcome the traffic. Government should do something about providing cheap accommodation available in Deira and Bur Dubai area so that there is no huge traffic on Dubai Sharjah Road. Nowadays real estates agents have increased the rent so much that people can't help but live in Sharjah.
Business bay is a very big project and people must use it if they are travelling towards Jebel Ali and should not use Shindagha, Al Maktoum Bridge or Garhoud Bridge.

Why cannot Dubai open a walk way bridge from Deira to Bur Dubai on Dubai creek? This would reduce risk of accidents in creek. This can be opposite to British embassy near the creek.

I just travelled this morning on Business Bay bridge (as it is my daily route to office from Deira to Bur Dubai) and I did not notice all lanes opened. Is it true the bridge is completely open?

Meeting the requirements, fulfilling the ambitions; both will reduce the traffic. Thanks, RTA!
