Dubai: BurJuman Metro Station will be a blessing for residents and businesses in the congested Central Business District area of Bur Dubai.
Visitors and residents will no longer have to waste time searching for parking spaces and waiting in the traffic if they travel on the Metro when it starts operating on September 9.
The trains are expected to be used by a huge number of passengers since the station is located in the centre of business and shopping centres. It will also ease traffic congestion in the area. The station is located beneath the intersection of Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street.
It is the only station which has three levels and is also the deepest of the underground stations. It is 30 metres below ground level. The station has four entry and exit points, one on each corner of the intersection, to handle to the expected high number of commuters.
It will be able to handle 40,850 passengers an hour on both the Red and Green lines.
It is one of the two underground stations where the Red and Green lines will meet, allowing passengers to transfer easily between lines.
