Artistic vision for Garhoud Bridge
Al Garhoud Bridge will become a floating work of art after completion of a beautification project that will take four months.

- The Al Garhoud Bridge will be decorated with artistic patterns. By day it will look like sand dunes and at night colourful lighting will create an impression of moving waves.
Dubai: Al Garhoud Bridge will become a floating work of art after completion of a beautification project that will take four months.
The project will landscape the bridge and the banks of Dubai Creek, making it a landmark of modern Dubai and will include date trees around green patios and creative lighting.
"The bridge will be decorated with artistic shapes, which will look like sand dunes during the day and colourful lighting in the night will create an impression of moving waves," said Maitha Bin Udai, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). She said the project will be completed in four months.
She said landscaping of the Al Garhoud Bridge area is significant because it is one of the key projects completed by RTA this year.
"This is part of the vision of RTA - to make roads, bridges, tunnels and open courtyards more aesthetic and pleasing. It fits well with the residential and urban growth as reflected in the construction of modern roads benchmarked to the highest global standards, adding to other elements of tourist attractions sought by the emirate," said Maitha.
The new Garhoud Bridge, which was inaugurated last month, ranks among the pioneer projects completed by RTA.
It is 1.7 km in length and consists of 14 lanes. The bridge rises 15 metres above the central part of the Creek, enabling free navigation underneath without the need for a drawbridge segment.
The project was completed in 24 months from the design phase to the start of operation.
