The Metro station in Al Garhoud is ideally located mostly serving commercial entities, educational institutions and restaurants.
The station is located on the Red Line between the stations at the Dubai International Airport and the Deira City Centre. The station has been named after the Gulf General Investment Company (GGICO), which has bought the naming rights of the station from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). It will commonly be known GGICO Metro Station.
One of the important places near the station is the Welcare Hospital, which also offers emergency services.
The station is expected to be frequented by school students, teachers and their parents as at least three schools including the Dubai International School, The Indian High School and the Kindergarten Nursery are located just two-to-five minutes' walk from the station.
Those interested in looking at new luxury cars can also visit Al Tayer Motors and a number of other showrooms located just four to six minutes away.
It can also be used by guests at the nearby Millennium Hotel, which is frequented by Emirates airline transit passengers.
For food lovers, the station is surrounded by a variety of restaurants, clubs and fast food outlets.
The famous ones are Irish Village, Century Village, India Palace, Fuddruckers, Alpha Club, Al Hallab and Chilis. The Aviation Club and the Emirates airline training college are also located at a stone's throw.
Since parking has become an issue in the area due to the high concentration of companies and restaurants, it will be ideal to use the Metro to watch tennis matches at the Dubai Tennis Stadium in the area. The Arabian Gallery close to the station offers a variety of Arabic language books.
Though the Al Garhoud residential area is located across Casablanca Road, the RTA has recently build a pedestrian bridge on the this road to provide residents access to the station.
