Dubai: Police warned motorists to follow some simple guidelines while driving in difficult weather conditions such as fog or rain to ensure their own safety and that of other road users.

They advised motor-ists to reduce speed and use headlights in the fog, especially low-beam lights.

They should also avoid the use of hazard lights except in emergencies, use windscreen wipers to keep the windows clean, avoid overtaking, abide by traffic rules and speed limits, leave enough space between vehicles to avoid collision in case of sudden braking, be patient and be more cautious while driving.

Police said most accidents took place as a result of speeding.
