Sharjah: From photo exhibitions to film screenings, the Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) will be holding a series of events over the next four months featuring the UAE as well as international artists, from September 7.

The calendar of events will start with a photographic exhibition titled ‘Vantage Point’ which will include photographs that were selected from an open call that invited UAE-based photographers to explore the emirate of Sharjah and submit their work for the group exhibition.

The opening exhibition, which will take place at 6.30pm in building GH at SAF’s art spaces in Al Mureijah at Sharjah’s Heritage area, will include works by professional photographers and artists as well as photographs taken by individuals with an active interest and passion for photography.

Shaikha Hoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, president of the Sharjah Art Foundation, explained that the aim of such initiatives is to encourage people living and working in the UAE to participate in artistic activities and to become more engaged with the cultural life of the Emirates.

“This exhibition is one of Sharjah Art Foundation’s new initiatives focused on public programming and community outreach,” she added.

The opening exhibition will be followed by a film screening of ‘Amal’ by Emirati director Nujoom Al Ganem, which will take place at 8.30pm in the foundation’s building.
