Abu Dhabi: The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) says it is intensifying its efforts to assist people affected by the floods in Pakistan.

The RCA distributed large amounts of food and relief materials such as blankets and tents, as well as heating equipment to thousands of families in the Dadu and Johi districts in the Sindh region of Pakistan.

The RCA said it intensified its efforts to provide more relief to people affected by the floods during the winter season.

It is also considered the only humanitarian organisation still present in these areas and continues to provide aid despite the difficult terrain and bad climate conditions.

Saleh Al Jaberi, official in charge of RCA operations in Pakistan, supervised the distribution of rice, flour, cooking oil, lentils, canned food and dates, as well as the distribution of winter clothing, blankets and heating equipment to needy families.

Supervision

Bu Khait Ateeq Al Rumaithi, the UAE Deputy Consul General to Karachi, and representatives from the local authority also supervised the distribution of aid.

The RCA also provided meals, milk and clothes to children due to this segment being one of the most affected by the floods in the country.

The distribution of aid in the Sindh region was also carried out in coordination with UAE consulate in Karachi and Pakistani Red Crescent Society.

The Sindh region is considered the most affected by the floods and its aftermath which still affects people in that region.

People in that region are also facing a harsh winter season, with temperatures dropping to its lowest rates.

The people benefiting from the authority's relief operations expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the RCA's efforts and their humanitarian initiatives.
