Those exempted face conditions beyond their control
Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered that 14 Emirati citizens be exempt from paying the remaining instalments on housing loans due to circumstances beyond their control, such as death, health disability and low income.
Sami Gargash, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Establishment and member of the board, on behalf of the exempted citizens, thanked Shaikh Mohammad for his generous gesture, which reflects his keenness to provide dignity for Emirati citizens, as well as to alleviate the suffering of those who face difficulties resulting from tough conditions beyond their control, and his endeavour to support people of humanitarian situations in all possible ways.
Gargash pointed out that the committee tasked with studying the requests for exemptions from housing loans examined 32 applications, of which it approved 14, froze deductions for 6, and declined the rest for not meeting the exemption criteria.
He said the value of the exempted loans was Dh5.679 million, from a total of Dh5.2 billion borrowed by approximately 10,000 citizens.
