Dubai: New Dubai residents are calling on developers to build separate toilets for security guards and workers after some of them were spotted using bushes and community facilities to answer nature’s call.
Workers have been using toilets in shopping centres, swimming pools, tennis courts or sometimes heading into the open to answer nature’s call due to lack of facilities in these areas.
“This is not correct as these facilities are for community residents, but we cannot stop them as they do not have any other option at the moment.”
At an entrance to The Lakes, the security guard said the toilet inside his cabin next to the parking barrier was not usable as there was no water connection. “We go to the toilet near the tennis court,” he said, adding workers, gardeners do the same.
A German expatriate in The Lakes said there must be toilets for guards in every community.
It was worse in Jumeirah Islands (from the Meadows side) where the temporary makeshift cabin at the entrance does not even have a toilet. “We go to the club or Spinneys to use the toilet,” the guard said.
Last month a resident caught a guard urinating behind a bush.
A security guard in Springs 14 also said the toilet inside his security cabin does not have water connection. “Whenever we need to go to the toilet we take the bridge and go to the Town Centre,” he said.
He said it is shocking that there are no separate toilets for security guards and workers.
An Emirates Living resident echoed the sentiments: “Workers and security guards in the area are working for community residents and we must do something to enhance facilities for them.”
