A new Arabic news channel with a French perspective is due to be launched on April 2, it was announced yesterday.
Dubai: A new Arabic news channel with a French perspective is due to be launched on April 2, it was announced yesterday.
The Arabic version of France's recently launched France 24 news channel, is set to offer Arab audiences objective and independent world news coverage, say the channel's organisers.
"We put the Arabic audience on the same level as our French and English audience. We believe that this is an important part of the world which is continuously evolving," Alain De Pouzilhac, CEO of France 24, told Gulf News. "We expect our best market share to be in this part of the world in one year... even bigger than our French market share."
According to De Pouzilhac, research has shown "opinion leaders" to be sceptical about the news they receive. The channel will start airing four hours of Arabic news and eventually become a 24-hour channel by the end of 2008.
