Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai will attend today's inauguration of the 7th Arab Media Forum (AMF).
Shaikh Mohammad will also honour the recipients of the Arab Journalism Awards (AJA) during a gala ceremony on Thursday.
The Arab Media Forum (AMF) is built around the theme Bridging Arab Media through Technology.
Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of Dubai Media Incorporated, will deliver the keynote address at the opening session on Wednesday at noon.
AMF will draw the participation of nearly 500 local, regional and international media professionals. Over two days, panels comprising 50 intellectuals and industry experts will lead discussions on the dynamic impact of new technology on the media sector.
Designed with a view to providing insights into issues of immediate concern, the specialised workshops will focus on media and technology in the region, and the Gulf media's embrace of new technologies among other topics. The forum will also see the screening of documentary films that will shed light on the current socio-economic and political scenario in Iraq and Palestine.
The curtains will come down on the two-day forum with a ceremony to present the AJA awards, honouring the work of regional media professionals for their valuable contribution to the industry.
