Mohammad: Publish only the truth

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, last night received local, Arab and foreign media and senior editors in the presence of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.

The journalists extended to Shaikh Mohammad their greetings on the advent of Ramadan.

Shaikh Mohammad discussed journalism, its message and role in lighting the way and clarifying matters with all honesty and neutrality, and away from personal or institutional interests.

The media representatives expressed their gratitude to Shaikh Mohammad for his decision that prohibits jailing of journalists and protects them from threats in the line of duty.

Shaikh Mohammad said the new media law which was approved by the UAE Cabinet protects journalists from imprisonment and replaces it with a fine. He said a journalist is ethically bound to publish only the truth and ensure its authenticity.
