Levant suffering media brain drain to Gulf
The media brain drain of Levantines to the Gulf tends to be for better living and professional conditions, according to media representatives.
Dubai: The media brain drain of Levantines to the Gulf tends to be for better living and professional conditions, according to media representatives.
Essam Dari, editor-in-chief of the Syrian Arabic daily Tashreen, attributed the resettlement of the Levant's media figures to Europe, North America and now the Gulf to difficult living conditions they encounter in their home countries, the limited freedom they enjoy and the lack of opportunities given to journalists.
In addition to a lack of political stability. Dari believes that this phenomenon had started even before the media was established in the Levant.
This was the core of the session which addressed the issue of how professionals in the Gulf region have succeed in acquiring knowledge and skill sets from their counterparts migrating from the Levant countries such as Lebanon that have witnessed a huge talent drain due to its political and economic imbalance.
