Tracking the changing laws
I started reading Gulf News in 1998 and became an official subscriber in 1999. I always enjoyed reading the main Nation section, along with the World and Business sections because they keep me up to date. However, I feel that there are more advertisements than news reports, which was not the case a few years ago.

I only surf the website when I am out of the country because I enjoy feeling a newspaper in my hands. My favourite section is Ask the Law because it shows the different laws and how they are changing.

The only thing I would change about the newspaper would be to reduce the volume of advertisements and increase the number of reports.

More community coverage
I have been reading Gulf News on and off for the past two years. I try to read it as regularly as possible but it depends on the availability of the newspaper. Gulf News highlights all the important news, local and international. The website is constantly updated that helps provide readers with the most up to date information.

It has evolved into a journalism/educational institution by utilising technology in a variety of ways. Even though it covers similar news to others in the nation, it does so with a difference by highlighting items that are more interesting and useful to the citizens here.

The only thing I would change is to shift the focus of the newspaper from international politics. I would let it focus on the communities here because that is what I believe interests the people on the street more than political figures who do not have a great impact on their daily lives.

Blogs are good
Overall I have had a positive experience in terms of reading Gulf News. I like reading the section on India because it keeps me up to date on what's happening over there.

The editorials are interesting too because they cover a wide variety of topics. I have not been on the website lately because I do not feel there is much of a difference between it and the actual newspaper.

My favourite sections are Nation, editorials, Off the Cuff, Letter to Editor and tabloid! I especially enjoy reading the online blog sections as well as the articles featured on the last page of Friday magazine. If I could change anything, I would ask for the release of names of suspects featured in Gulf News court reports.

It relates to me
I have been reading Gulf News for about four and a half years. It's a different newspaper, compared to others that I've read.

The newspaper has a very large circulation, and I think we all enjoy reading its Letters to the Editor section. I also look forward every day to reading the Nation and Region news because it relates to my surroundings and me.

My children on the other hand, are active readers of the Sports page because it is so wide in its coverage. I like the new layout, especially on the website, which I visit when I don't get the time to read the paper.

Something unique
For the past two years that I've been reading Gulf News, my experiences with the paper have been very good. I like the simple language used and the format of the layout, which is easy on the eyes.

I've found that there are some columns that are exclusive to Gulf News that I haven't found in some other papers, like the Matter of Fact section.

It makes it unique. I usually read the Nation and editorials, and like skimming through the headlines first thing in the morning. I would encourage more space to be devoted to reader comments and views.

More creativity
Comment: I have read Gulf News for the past 20 years and have seen it change through the years. It's commendable how the international policies and news are well balanced, with all sides represented very well.

Sometimes though, I find that the editorial content is a little biased. I mostly read Opinion, politics and local news sections.

My suggestion is that instead of always concentrating on features like fashion in Friday magazine and the main paper, I would appreciate it if more artistic views are shown. Creative writing, poetry and coverage about what is happening in art and literary fields would be a welcome change.
