Dubai: The Arab Media Forum has consolidated Dubai's status as a prime media platform for the exchange of views and ideas on the future of the industry in the region.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday attended the opening ceremony of the forum at Dubai's Monarch Hotel.
The forum seeks to identify the best possible ways of benefiting from technological advancements to generate quality media content, said Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, during the launch of the 7th Arab Media Forum (AMF).
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad, the event has brought together over 500 media leaders from across the region and worldwide.
In his address, Shaikh Maktoum underlined the AMF's importance as a major platform for dialogue among Arab and global media experts.
Referring to Dubai's remarkable success as a media centre, Shaikh Maktoum said: "Dubai has excelled in all sectors, establishing itself as a leading global media hub.
"We attribute this success to Shaikh Mohammad's vision that recognises the key role of media and technology as cornerstones for our development."
Shaikh Maktoum said: "Modern technology has resulted in increasing the global impact of the media over the past few years... the Arab media is now playing a major role in the political, economic and social landscape."
