Blogs 'main source of news within two years'

Dubai: A young blogger expects blogs to compete with electronic and print media and to become a main source of news within the next two years.
"I expect blogs within two to three years to pave the way, increase the level of press freedom and become even more efficient, timely and a precise source of news across the Arab world...
"I am not saying blogs will replace the print and electronic media, but they will come way ahead because there are less constraints and less self-censorship; unlike in ordinary media organisations across the Arab world, especially in Maghreb countries," 26-year-old Algerian Esam Hamoud, who runs the blog www.hamoudstudio.com said yesterday.
Hamoud, who was among the speakers at the Arab Media Forum also told Gulf News that blogs will offer news to a bigger and wider variety of people as 'those who receive news prefer uncensored news because they seek the truth."
"Recipients believe blogs provide livelier and trustworthy news because bloggers usually broadcast the news using video and audio sourcing ..."
