Abu Dhabi hosts strong man contest
For the first time in the UAE, Abu Dhabi is hosting the World Strongest Man Championship from Sunday
Abu Dhabi: For the first time in the UAE, Abu Dhabi is hosting the World Strongest Man (WSM) Championship from today.
As many as 25 contestants from across the globe will compete to win the WSM title by demonstrating their physical strength such as lifting and moving heavy objects and pulling trucks or aircraft.
Competition and activities will take place at Khalifa Park, over a three-day period till Tuesday.
Only the top eight performers will compete on the third day to win the title and a trophy.
"This is yet another prestigious championship through which we seek to consolidate Abu Dhabi's status as a capital of sport and youth in the region," said Talal Al Homeiri, chairman of the Higher Organising Committee.
