'I could not believe how much water crept into my home'
Residents in the Springs, Meadows and Arabian Ranches, some of the worst hit communities, were left stranded for up to an hour while the water build up subsided.
Dubai: Residents in the Springs, Meadows and Arabian Ranches, some of the worst hit communities, were left stranded for up to an hour while the water build up subsided.
Rain flooded into many upstairs rooms in the Springs and Meadows soaking curtains, rugs and personal possessions.
Main road roundabouts were underwater across most of the Emaar-built Springs, Meadows, Lakes and Emirates Hills communities.
Springs resident John Tenner said: "I woke up and thought it was odd when I stepped out of bed to feel water beneath my feet.
Leaky ceilings
"I looked down and realised the entire bedroom floor was flooded, with more water coming in all the time.
"My neighbours had problems when the ceiling started leaking in the two upstairs bathrooms.
"By the time I had a chance to get a mop, I noticed the water coming in from the front door of my villa. I couldn't believe how much water had crept into my home in such a short amount of time. I have been mopping up ever since."
Smita Mohan, a housewife in Arabian Ranches, said water was "pouring like a tap" from her kitchen ceiling just four days after she moved in with her husband and daughter.
"My ceiling has had to be completely pulled off. It's in a pretty bad state. We've got buckets all over the place and the water is getting into my plugpoints. I am extremely unhappy with the construction people," she said.
Emaar said it was assisting residents.
