Shaikh Zayed death anniversary on Ramadan 19
The 19th of Ramadan (Friday) will now be a day to mark the the death anniversary of the founding father of the UAE Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan

Dubai: Starting this year, the death anniversary of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's founding father, will be marked on Ramadan 19 every year.
Friday (Ramadan 19) is the seventh death anniversary of Shaikh Zayed, who passed away on November 2, 2004, which fell on Ramadan 19. Shaikh Zayed was born in 1918.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the National Media Council, instructed all media in the UAE to mark the death of the UAE’s founding father.
“As we remember Shaikh Zayed, we are still pained and saddened by his death. He has left his mark on the country, and was the builder of the UAE’s development boom which helped the nation become among the most modern countries in the region,” said Shaikh Hamdan.
“We will forever be proud and grateful for his great achievements. His memory will live on forever in the heart of every citizen,” he said.
He added that the media is currently preparing to mark the anniversary of the death of Shaikh Zayed through national television and radio programs, and newspapers that will publish a collection of Shaikh Zayed’s quotes that highlight the founding father’s foresight in all fields.
Shaikh Hamdan added that a host of activities will be organised in the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque, as well as a number of other mosques in the country, on the 19th of Ramadan. These activities will be organized by Abu Dhabi’s General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, and Sharjah’s Islamic Affairs Department.
Islamic scholars invited by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan will participate in these activities by conducting Friday prayer sermons in all UAE mosques, as well as lectures on Shaikh Zayed and his achievements.
