Al Ain: Thousands of people from all over the UAE and neighbouring GCC countries thronged Al Ain during the Eid Al Fitr holidays to enjoy the picturesque scenery and cool weather.
All roads leading towards the Green Mubazzarah tourist resort and Jebel Hafeet, the highest mountain resort in the UAE, were jammed on the evening of the first and second day of Eid.
The Green Mubazzarah tourist resort has added a special dimension to the city's tourist attractions. The lush green valley at the foothills of Jebel Hafeet boasts many attractions such as hot water springs.
Although the police had made special traffic and security arrangements visitors still faced delays because of traffic jams.
The city's more than 70 parks were packed to capacity. Many people were seen enjoying barbecues in lay-bys along the Jebel Hafeet Road.
"We have come to enjoy the cool weather and green beauty of Al Ain," said Waheeduz Zaman, an expatriate from Fujairah.
He added the civic administration should pay more attention to arranging fun activities on festive occasions such as Eid.
Pervez Hussain, an expatriate from Umm Al Quwain, said: "I have brought my family for some outdoor fun in the Green Mubazzarah tourist resort."
He also said the authorities should consider organising different shows for children to further enhance the city's charm on festive occasions.
Abdullah Ali, an Emirati from Ras Al Khaimah, said his family had spent an enjoyable time at Al Ain Zoo.
He also praised the tourist development in the city.
He, however, expressed dissatisfaction regarding traffic arrangements saying heavy traffic on roads leading to Mubazzarah and other locations was the only problem the tourists faced.
